Honestly, once I had the idea for this gag I knew it could only work IN full color. I'll probably have to print it on the cover of the next book. Still, I think it's worth the extra effort.
One of the bigger drawbacks to a weekly schedule is that I have to kind of skim over certain elements that might not be worth an entire strip or story line. I never intended for Dandy & Maryweather to break up after their fight in the pound, but really didn't want to spend an entire strip of them reconciling with nothing to draw but talking heads. And lets face it, everything is better with dinosaurs.
Plus I like that this strip shows that lots of other stuff could be happening in between Wednesdays.
The last time Calpurnia was a part of the strip, she DID actively try and kill Dandy and take over the US government. So, this is fairly mild evil for her.
Jabba may not have been willing to sell Han Solo, but this original sketch cover IS for sale! Just $25 if you want it! Don't make me pull out a thermal detonator!
Water fight strips are like plot sorbet for me. Whenever I need to give the strip a breather from lengthy plot lines, I love to try and figure our a new way to do a water/snowball fight. I've had this idea in the back of my head for years now.
